Amlogic supplies device trees with 100M Ethernet and there's a built-in 100M transciever. I provided them just in case.

The movie finished (110 min) without any problem, but after that I walked in the movie library and the GUI has frozen (Kodi restarts automaticly within a minute)
I tried my 3GB box with the gxm_q200_2g.dtb but LE cannot start at all. It's not a bug but I haven't expected this.

I haven't seen any S912 box with 100Mbit LAN, I saw only with gigabit LAN.
I tried a clean install with gxm_q200_3g.dtb on my H96 Pro 3GB/16GB.
LAN, Wifi works, but no BT (I can turn it on, but nothing on the BT settings screen), audio OK, 2820MB free memory, remote doesn't work without modifying remote.conf.
It's not freezing with this dtb, looks more stable.
I've started to watch a movie (28 GB 1080p mkv, DTS HD MA) and it plays well.
You can setup Kodi to different languages including Spanish. You need internet connection to do that. See Kodi forums about Settings/Appearance/International/Language.

Is there anything in the kernel beyond 720p, 1080p and 2160p?
I have a 2560x1440 monitor, is there any chance to use that resolution? It's not important for the LE but important for desktop linux.

I tried without any dtb.img:
LAN not present. WIFI works, BT works, there is only BT audio device in audio settings-> no sound
I experienced a couple of restart of Kodi and freezing too.
Back to my dtb (which came from balbes150, he made it to use for armbian)
I edited remote.conf copied to the root of the sd card contained about six remote unit data, I kept only the 0xfe01 factory code (my remote send this) and deleted the rest -> remote works now (the arrows at least)
There is AML-M8AUDIO PCM and HDMI devices. sound works with both.
Shutdown and suspend both works with remote,
Atteched the dtb from balbes150: q912_otg.zip

It doesn't work on my H96 Pro 3GB/16GB box with the default dtb.img but I tried my own dtb img and then TADAM! IT WORKS!

I think you cannot get noticeable difference between a fast sd and the emmc.
If you delete the android then you wasted your money for the MINIX.
Hello,X is already working with S912, BUT without gpu acceleration. It's smooth by the way, and perfectly working, except when dealing with hd videos or any other graphical rendering.
(It remembers me old times when I was running debian woody on hp 712 workstations)

Can you choose different display resolutions like 2560x1440 or other computer display resolutions (1920x1200, etc.)?
I tried some Ubuntu and Debian but only got 1920x1080 and 1280x720.
I can live with that. The biggest problem I have is that the boxes don't power off. Any idea how to fix this?

It seems your box has S905X and 100Mbit lan.
Those work until the network interface becomes the bottleneck.
My S905 box had gigabit lan so that was not the bottleneck for sure.
Try them from a USB drive to see the higher ones.
I would like to know too! All other device trees without 1GB LAN resulted in no working Ethernet connection. Sometimes it received an IP address (starting with 169.) but no connectivity. In my experience this happens when the device tree for ethernet is wrong. I tied all device trees for boxes with 2GB on board. Do you have any pointers for me how to test if the ethernet is actually gigabit?
The box doesn't have a powerbutton, it is only powered on by remote and off course the powerplug.
And, indeed I'm merely guessing. A previous Q-box I received a month ago didn't work with the S905x devicetree's. This one does, but also with the default devicetree.

I forget to mention a detail. The Android version on the previous box was 5, on the new box it is 6. Maybe the new firmware is the cause?

The lan is working with gxl_p212_2g.dtb, isn't it?
if yes and the android 6.0 os indicates that it is probably an S905X.
(As I know the default dtb contains 4 dtb: p200 1g/2g and p212 1g/2g.)
How to check your lan:
1. From a terminal you can use the 'ethtool eth0' command to see the capabilities of your lan.
2. You can open your box and check what lan chip is inside (or take a photo and share here).
3. You can check your router's connections, some lists the connected devices' speed.
Interesting, I had absolutely no difference in hardware decoded playback. I tried several files I made with makemkv from my BD collection.What kind of problems did you have with high bitrate videos on S905?
Try jellyfish test videos and you will see the difference.

My experience is just different.
My S905X based M8S II much better then my S905 Mini MX-G regarding of playing high bitrate videos.
I run only LE on both device. Never tried software decoded videos or playing games, just watching movies from 20-40 GB mkv or BD and showing my pictures to my friends..
Also I have a collection of 4k VP9 videos which only playable on S905X only.
The only disadvantage for me is the lack of gigabit lan on S905X boxes.
