Besides the Mecool boxes, which others have Widevine L1?
I think Beelink has new box running on an Allwinner chip, that has Widevine level 1 AND HDCP-2.x, which will give Netflix in 4k. However, the firmware is still buggy.
My Mecool M8S Pro L, constantly goes to 200 degrees farenheit/ 93 degrees Centigrade. Of course that was before I killed it, trying to modify it.
Is there a reason why you would buy the 32GB version of the MECool M8S Pro L instead of the 16GB. Yes, you have more storage, but what for when you use it primarly for Kodi and Netflix? Anything i miss?
I question the same thing. I would only need the extra memory if I was running Linux on this box.
I have been running your zap2epg for a week or so now, and it is working fantastic. I have about 35 OTA channels, and it doesn't take long to populate the guide with 14 days of guide data, with all the metadata selected. Been using your sd2xmltv version for along time, but guess I will make the switch permanent now.
Display MoreHi!
I posted this at Freaktab, but for some reason it was deleted without notice.
Can anyone help me explain how to reboot to Libreelec SD card on a Mecool M8S Pro L? I have tried everything...there is no reset button on this.. The box is flashed with the latest Magendanz's TV Stock Nexus ROM...
Please help out a noob
Regards
Tommy
I asked Geekbuying about the MECOOL M8S PRO Plus issue. They said
This one is new and will not have such problems. we have checked with our supplier, all the faulty tv boxes were sent back and we have given our customers full refund.
Is it now recommended again? Without Reset button how can I use LE? Is there any Android 7.1.1 905x box?
Yes, you can install LibreELEC without a reset button.
Yes, but I sure would like to hear from some Diamond A9 (S912) owner testimonials, especially when running on LE.
Agreed, at that price, I would be very skeptical about purchasing it. I was kind of alluding to the fact, that if it seems to be too good to be true, it probably isn't.
Any Diamond A9 (S912) owners here can chime in how is the performance of LibreELEC on your device? I am planning to grab one unit of a Diamond A9 (S912) from GeekBuying to run LibreELEC. FYI, my current MXQ Pro (S905) works flawlessly with LibreELEC.
Those are some very good specs for that very low price.
My remote control does not work and I have tried all DTB files available.
My device is Mecool MS8 Pro+ S905x 2G Ram
Index of /MECOOL/ Just copy the remote.conf to the root of the configfiles folder.
It would be great if someone could help.
Device: Mecool MS8 Pro+ S912 2G 100megs
Files: MicroSD card flashed with LibreELEC-S912.arm-8.2-8.2.0.1.img.gz and gxm_q201_2g.dtb (have tried USB stick also)
I can't get past the installation because I keep getting an error which reads SMP : failed to stop secondary cpus
The Mecool Pro + is NOT a S912, it is an Amlogic S905x. You need the correct file and the correct device tree.
Use Etcher for burning your microSD card. Maybe this video will help.
Display MoreSo what is recommended for LE 9 final on Micro SD AND Android on nand usage ?
I´m using both Versions because of Amazon Prime, Spotify and some gaming, LE for Live TV with DD 5.1
I dont want to buy a expensive device (Vero4k/Wetek/Minix stuff)
My old Amlogic stuff was fine until Kodi 17.
Mecool M8s pro + (S905X)
Mecool KI pro (S905D)
Mecool M8s pro L (S912)
Something else ?
Waiting for X ?
The Mecool M8S Pro L for less than $60US is a very nice box that plays Netflix in 1080P and YouTube in 4k. libreELEC is easy to install and works fantastic.
zmokkie, why do you want to limit it to the 905x boxes? Yes, the Amlogic S912 are a little more $$, but they are sooooo much faster.
Out of more that two dozen boxes I have purchased in the last 4 or 5 years, the Mecool M8S Pro L, is/was the best box by far that I have every used. I even have an expensive Zidoo X9S, that is collecting dust, because I prefer to use my Mecools. I also have the Mecool M8S Pro PLUS (S905x), and Mecool M8S Pro.
I am running LibreELEC on my Mecool M8S Pro (S912), and use it as my tvheadend and Emby servers.
Out of shear negligence, I killed my Mecool M8S Pro L, I really miss it. Debating about purchasing another one. I have the Pro (non L) and running LibreELEC on it, with the tvheadend and Emby servers running on it. So, it is just functioning as a server right now.
Sorry, to hear about your back Adamg, hope it heals soon.
Hi, i have read a few stories about boxes (mecool m8s pro, mini m8s ii) being sold recently with different hardware than before. What is now the best bang for buck box? I have the x96, mini m8s ii and the beelink mini mxiii (all s905x) and all the boxes work perfect with libreelec. But I bought the boxes a time ago and I am afraid that if I buy another one (I want to give my dad and sister a kodi box) I get different hardware with a lot of issues.
You are correct there, with these boxes, you never know what you will get. They are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you will get........ haha
what hardware is your LibreELEC Installed on?
