I've removed it and manually installed it from this zip file:
Index of /addons/8.2/S905/arm/driver.dvb.sundtek-mediatv/
I have the same issue.
(I've created symlinks for systemd, enabled it. The tuner shows up in tvheadend after this, but i'm getting the same error:

Not sure if your issue is related especially without a log. Normally kszaq and me sync our code.
I'm experiencing the same problem also with a Sundtek DVB-S2 tuner (Skytv ultimate v6) on this build:
The error it gives:
Code2017-10-03 13:26:21.951 mpegts: 11804V in Thor 0.8W - tuning on Sundtek DVB-S/S2 (VI) #1 : DVB-S #0
Code2017-10-03 13:26:23.512 linuxdvb: Sundtek DVB-S/S2 (VI) #1 : DVB-S #0 - DTV_CLEAR failed [e=Success]
I've tried also with :
driver.dvb.sundtek-mediatv-8.1.103.zip
driver.dvb.sundtek-mediatv-9.0.4.104.zip
Do you have a solution?

I've requested a pull request into git. Hopefully they'll add my modification.
This will support the backlight brightess change of the VFD displays based on the PT6314 IC.
This is compatible with the popular HD44780 IC, but it's made for VFD displays .
But compared to a classical LCD, where the backlight is and LED, the VFD have 3 brightness levels and they can be adjusted by writing into one of the additional registers.

Hello.
I'm courious about the location from where the sources of lcdproc binaries are built.
I'm asking because I would like to submit a patch for the HD44780 driver to support brightness control for the VFD displays based on the PT6314 IC.
Like this one:I've checked on github the libreelec repo, but I see only some patches and the service files, no sources are stored.

Well, I just did
I was using this tuner with a Raspberry Pi and now I've switched to the Odroid C2. I was suprized with the old kernel
Normally in kernels 4.x the tuner is already supported out of the box.
But with the media_build is working. -
Well, I can confirm it that i'm using it and had no issues.
-
It is supported, but I never understood why it isn't in the main build ? Libreelec is supposed to be a media center build and a lot of people are using it with USB tv tuners.

Could you please include in the kernel 3.14 (for Odroid C2, amlogic s905 devices) also support for tv tuners, expecially the dvbsky series as they are quite popular among users who need live tv on their kodi box.
You can find the driver and firmware files here :
DVBSky - Enjoy HDTV on PC! DVB-T2 / DVB-S2 Professional TV Tuner Card and Box for PC.
Various media builds already include them, but would be nice to have it in the normal Libreelec distro.
