Having found that FF & rewind was working I decided to persevere with LibreELEC-RPi4.arm-11.0-nightly-20220218-29c7284.img so had a few more goes.

I eventually found that setting the HDMI port from 1 to 3 and the physical port from 3000 to 0 partially worked. I say partially because only some of the buttons work, others (STOP, FF, Rewind, PAUSE) do not.

My current assumption is that I need to edit remote.xml keymap. If so would it be possible to copy one from my RPi3? If not is there a simple guide anywhere? I'm reading through https://kodi.wiki/view/CEC and following links but its certainly not what I'd call simple ?(

At least I'm making some sort of progress ^^

Thanks for those, I'll be reading thoroughly later but from my quick skim through I think I didn't explain properly. It looks as though the information you supplied relates to using an IR receiver on the Pi rather than what I'm doing with the RPi3 and want to do with the RPi4 which is use the TV remote through the TV & HDMI to control KODI.

I do have a mini wifi keyboard attached to the Pi which I use but my wife is allergic to it ;) and will only use the TV remote. As I say - no problem with the RPi3 but the RPi4 will not co-operate.

Right off to read the wiki in detail.

    I tried the nightly LibreELEC-RPi4.arm-11.0-nightly-20220218-29c7284.img

Very pleased to see that FF & rewind for MP4s was working but still no joy with getting the TV remote to control KODI (tried all suggestions I've been given previously) So I'm still in the position of the RPi3 works with the remote but not the RPi4

I can see the TV's light flickering as it receives the signal. Is there a way to see if the signal from the remote reached KODI on the RPi4 and if so what arrived there?

I saw an ad from ThePiHut for a SCART adapter for RPi4. I think the SCART spec included CEC but what's the chances of LibreElec working with it?

Just hoping for informed opinion rather than absolute certainty, especially about a piece of kit that's in pre-order status.

I'm looking at buying a couple of Leapmatic MaticBoxes with the autofan board for a temperature controlled fan. Their manual is specific to Rasperian and uses Raspi-config.

Has anyone tried these boxes and got the temperature controlled fan working?

I only tried one addon - TVHeadend - and that worked, BUT I'm staying with my dual RPi3 setup for now. I think its KODI that needs a bit more work rather than LibreElec since I've tried OSMC, Raspberry Pi OS and XBian with the same result. My TV remote works flawlessly on the RPi3 but will not work on RPi4 and Fast Forward & Rewind on MP4 videos just doesn't work.

I tried various of the nightlies and encountered ones where there was no audio. My view is it needs more work, I'm going to keep trying releases / nightlies because I'm sure that at some point they will crack it. Until then I'll just dust the RPi4 every so often.

Just tried the 10.0.1 release. My problems still exist (FF & rewind not working on MP4, TV remote not working). My 2 RPi3s (one for playing videos and one for TVHeadend) are still working fine. I've tried pretty much everything to get the RPi4 working - with & without Argon One case, different HDMI cables, different HDMI plugs on the TV, LibreElec, OSMC, XBian. With LibreElec I do note that with the RPi3 I get two messages about Pulse 8 connecting and only one with the RPi4 and I did find a comment on Kodi's site that there were problems with the MP4 format.

Unfortunately I don't have a second RPi4 to try so if anyone has any idea about testing it I'm interested.

I will keep trying nightlies to see if things improve, I can convert my movies to MKV (just have to dedicate a computer to doing it for a while), I can buy a FLIRC USB (as was recommended in response to an earlier post) but I guess that since the TV remote is IR that means organising things so the FLIRC USB is in line of sight to the remote and then there's this from FLIRC's website

Can I use my TV remote control with Flirc?

Yes, you can use your TV remote control with Flirc as long as your remote control has enough unused buttons and your TV does not respond to the ones you wish to pair with Flirc. We recommend using a universal remote control with Flirc for the best results.

ie pretty much no use (or maybe I'm misinterpreting) unless I spend more money with no guarantee of success.

Apart from throwing the RPi4 in the bin, or hitting it with a large hammer (highly satisfying - I had to do it once with a NAS) does anyone have a solution

I have the same problem on RPi4 (my RPi3 works flawlessly) and I think it lies with the KODI code. Looking on their forum it seems its an issue with the mpg decoder.

With a .ts file FF & rewind work perfectly but with mp4 no way.

In my case the TV remote will not work with the RPi4 (again the RPi3 is perfect). My "solution" is to try a nightly release once a month and hope.

anasonic TV, RPi4B, Argon One case

Pi connected to TV via HDMI3

I've just spent a few hours testing different versions of LibreElec/Kodi in the hope that I'll find one that works fully. No luck so far.

    What I have found is:

    - the TV remote will not work on any of the versions tested.

    - FF & Rewind worked fully and correctly on .ts files on all versions, MP4 only worked correctly on 9.2.6 & 9.2.8.

    - sound does not work on 9.2.1, 9.2.6 or 9.2.8

    versions tested: 9.2.1, 9.2.6, 9.2.8, 9.97.1, 10.0.0, October nightlies 2, 8, 10, 11, 12, 18, 21

Unless anyone can recommend a version, or actions I can take, I'll just keep trying the nightlies once a month and hope.

I have the same problem. I've just tried again this morning with yesterday's nightly build and its still there, no way to get the TV remote working.

Using a wireless keyboard is fine apart from the other problem - FF & rewind on MP4's is stuffed.

I think its a Kodi not a LibreElec specific problem since I've tried XBian & OSMC with the same result.

I've decided to try the nightly build at weekly intervals to see if things are fixed. AT least I have my Pi3s working well.

I think I've identified the problem - I went searching on KODI's forum and found a reference to it having trouble with seek on H.264 format so I tried some stuff I'd recorded on a laptop which was in ts format. FF & reverse worked fine on the ts files but not the mp4 files.

Converting all my mp4 files to ts or mkv format is not a viable option - any suggestions?

Latest update - still have the problems.

chewitt: I've taken the RPi4 out of the Argon case and it made no difference.

    OSs I've tried so far:

    LibreElec

    OSMC

    XBian

All with Kodi (19.1 I think)

I've tried with and without the Argon One case. With WiFi keyboard, with wired keyboard, films on USB memory stick, films on USB HDD.

Most of the time has been spent on LibreElec and there I've tried:

    LibreELEC-RPi4.arm-9.2.1.img.gz

    LibreELEC-RPi4.arm-9.2.8.img.gz

    LibreELEC-RPi4.arm-9.97.1.img.gz

    LibreELEC-RPi4.arm-10.0.0.img.gz

    LibreELEC-RPi4.arm-11.0-nightly-20211011-27d9660.img.gz

The 20211011 nightly did get some of the keys on my TV remote working, but not FF & rewind.

The only things I haven't changed are the Pi's power supply, the TV and the RPi4

Anyone with suggestions apart from wait and keep trying the nightlies?

Probably a silly comment but I've just bought an RPi4 and an Argon One case. The case comes with a couple of thermal pads but you need to peel the backing from either side to reveal the thermal paste sandwiched in the middle.

Not a silly comment - with the rare event of some warm weather in the Scottish Highlands I was also getting a little thermometer. My solution was to buy a laptop cooling pad from Amazon. I went cheap and spent a massive £5.99

Trust Ziva Laptop Cooling Stand for Laptops up to 16-inch, Black

    works really well.

    Thanks for trying to help.

I'm using the Logitech wireless keyboard whilst I set things up and get them working. Then I have a mini wireless keyboard that currently adorns my RPi3 that's for film playback, not TV recording will be transferred to the RPi4. I prefer a keyboard since coming from an IT background I'm happy with a keyboard and I can do more with it than the remote. My wife on the other hand uses the remote and claims she can't see the letters on the keycaps on the mini keyboard - much to complicated :)

I think I'm just trying a little early in the LibreElec/Kodi development cycle and am considering removing the TV HAT from my RPi3 and putting the Haupagge tuner on that for the next 3 - 6 months. Shame because I wanted to tidy things up and move from the 2 x RPi3Bs and cables everywhere. The Argon case is good for that with the cables coming from the back.
