I just managed to locate an "old" copy of LibreELEC - 01/06/22 and tried that. Downloaded and installed the Metropolis skin and it worked perfectly. Instaled LibreELEC 13/7/22 and Metropolis doesn't work.

That suggests to me that its a LibreELEC change. If I didn't need SAMBA I could stick with the nightly from 1/6/22.

I hope this is the right place to post this.

As part of my gradual change to an RPi4 from RPi3 I've been looking at the Metropolis skin and it seemed very good. Then I did a clean install of the latest nightly from 12/07/2022 on the Pi and I no longer am able to see any of my films or records (haven't gone as far as installing TV Headend yet). It knows stuff is there. It tells me 1 of 16 records (subset for testing) but I can neither see them or play them. I've been through configuring the skin but nothing I tried had an effect.

Is there something I can do or has LibreElec changed in some way that the author needs to alter things?

On my old RPi3 using 9.2.8 and Estuary when I hit pause or FF or rewind the progress bar is at the bottom and I'm given information about what film I'm watching, the time and when its due to finish.

I'm still in the process of changing to RPi4 and installed the latest nightly on it today.

I don't mind the progress bar being at the top (or sides for that matter) but I would like the other information back. Is there somewhere its possible to set this? I've hunted but can't find anything.

I'm getting nearer to setting up my RPi4 and I'm trying to work out if I'll need a powered USB hub, if so I need to sort out power points (I've used up the four built in and four in an extension). I've googled for published stats on the power requirements for the various bits that will be plugged in to the USB ports and not got very far. Ultimately I'll have wifi keyboard, haupage dual tv tuner, 128GB ssd (for boot), powered 6TB HDD for films etc and a 5V, 3A psu.

Whilst messing around I'm using a usb powered 600GB HDD rather than the 6TB powered HDD and I've already found that if I swap the SSD for another HDD the Pi4 will not boot.

Is anyone useing something similar to what I'll end up with and is it stable? I'd really not have to sort out more sockets.

When I finally finish messing around and decide how I'm organising my Pi4 I'm wondering if I should have a powered hub as part of my tidying things up.

I'll have the Pi4, 6TB powered HDD, 128GB SSD (for LibreElec),WiFi keyboard and a Hauppauge WinTV-dual HD plus for when it runs to hot (or I do) a laptop USB powered cooling fan.

I know I can but a powered hub to accommodate the accessories but does anyone know of one that could power the Pi4 as well?

I hope this is where I should post this question.

RPi4, LibreELEC-RPi4.arm-11.0-nightly-20220625, using local information only on source

All the films I have on Kodi have a jpg associated. On Estuary these are displayed correctly. On Metropolis they are stretched to fill the height of the frame. With this one flaw I like the Metropolis skin but I can't find an option to say stop stretching the jpgs.

If there is an option can someone tell me what it is, if not does anyone know what size jpgs should be and I'll write a bit of code to go through and alter them.

I thought I'd give it a go whilst waiting for a reply.

On the positive side KodiVCR does now show in the list of machines and I can access the connected HDD using \\KodiVCR\600GB

Part of my problem is I'd been assuming that the source was the share - not the disk label so I'd been using \\KodiVCR\test - feel free to call me a moron

Off to test with my sync program and try to figure out what's going on with the TV remote. Now the fast forward, rewind, pause & stop buttons work buy the arrow buttons don't.

Thanks for getting samba to where it is and I look forward to \\KodiVCR

My current configuration is 2 RPi3s running Kodi. One is linked to the TV via HDMI and the other is running TVHeadend server headless. I'm (slowly) moving over to a single RPi4 and I'd like to avoid having to mess with the TVHeadend settings (Rumster Forest but needs different channels from those TVHeadend sets).

Is it possible to back up the necessary bits using SSH? If so how?

    heitbaum

Thanks for both of those, unfortunately neither made much sense to me ?(

Windows I'm good with (well reasonably but no W11 PC), in terms of programming languages I'm a bit of a dinosaur (FORTRAN, COBOL, APL, PICK, Delphi). My one Linux PC is an ultra portable used for web browsing in the evenings.

    Sorry for being so thick.

You will still have to use the share name directly. Browse not yet fixed.

I'm using sftp at present. I've obviously misunderstood or messed up the instructions about using the share name directly because I get access is denied. I have a utility that syncs the live films (6TB disk) with a backup (3TB disk + 2TB disk + 1TB disk). That's why I need samba, otherwise sftp would be fine.

Thanks - I think its just the last link I need. Strangely I'm only interested when it makes it as far as LibreElec.
