Can I just put in a request that SPIDF support gets its own ALSA card option rather than been slaved to HDMI. A consequence of having it the way it is at the moment is that SPIDF dies when the TV is turned off.
Been hanging for about a year at this stage, would be great to have this working properly.

I'm afraid there is no developer who would be able to get through AML audio driver mess and/or rewrite the driver.
You can turn off HDMI audio by echo audio_off > /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/config

What are the markings on your RAM chips? I am using standard RAM clock from LePotato u-boot but that might be too high.

Because with the update i have no problems more..
You can add the command to autostart.sh.
It was deleted because of issues with 4K that I'm unable to fix (no 4K TV).

The change was to allow GUI to run at 720p, not to downscale, this is something not implemented in Kodi. This is being considered to be added to Kodi Leia.
I removed 8.2.3.1 build for S912 as it has not much new things and only causes issues for S912.

There is no automatic resolution down switch in Kodi. Even if you set GUI to 720p there is no 720p24hz mode in kernel. For 4K use 8.2.2.3.

Find a firmware update for your box and download it to a safe place. That way you'll be able to reinstall it in the future in case it's needed.

No, not essential. You can also do this yourself in every previous version, e.g. to scale GPU down to 500MHz:
