How do I know if I need a "device tree" ?
Simple rule: if you're not sure, always use a device tree with an update. I thought it's pretty clear when this is in bold+red in the instruction?

Jeffers DTB is a binary file, if you want to read its contents you need to convert it to DTS first. "dtc" is the tool you need. I don't know if it exists for Windows, to sure you can use Cygwin to run it.
EasySly Okay. Next build is on hold a bit, I want to figure out some S912-related stuff before releasing.
wizard5458 Please don't use "p2p" interface, for now it has no use in LE.
kostaman The open-source driver was originally written for TBS5520 and later adapted by afl1 for Avl6862. I know that there are issues with the open-source driver and you can find posts on that topic on TBS forum: TBSDTV Community Forum • View forum - TBS5520 Multi-standard TV Tuner USB Box
I don't know whether there is any development ongoing for the driver, perhaps crazycat can answer this.
I updated a MXQ Pro with a S905X and a SSV6051 WiFi chip. It was running on 8.0.2e on NAND. After updating it with LibreELEC-S905.arm-8.2-20170830_SSV6051.tar the box didn't boot up again and was stuck on the MXQ Pro logo.
Please read OP carefully - especially the part about device tree.
Also, it would be nice if it would also work on the 7.x (Kodi 16) builds, which I consider te be more stable for daily use. But my priority is to have it working in general on the MXQ Pro.
7.0 builds will not be updated.
DawidsPlayGame Probably not. Please read the note in OP.
A first step - kernel PR - was submitted on 1.01.2017.
derdigge Can you elaborate on "changing to Hyperion from git"? Did you compile it yourself?
QCA9377 is supported - this one comes under many different names, e.g. "Aigale AW-CM273SM".
SSV6051 source code is now available and will be supported in my next 8.2 series builds (testing builds available).
62vette Please always collect dmesg immediately after booting the box - that way first lines will not be lost.
You can try using these device trees:
gxbb_p200_2G_1Gbit_OTG_Port.dtb
If the case is what balbes150 said, it will be hard to make it work.
wrxtasy I would add that not all S905 and S905D boxes have Gigabit Ethernet and 100M Ethernet is pretty common.
You should also add a note that WiFi on Mecool M8S Pro+ is not supported, I suspect that not everyone understands this from "ethernet only".
Please include dmesg.
If you used search you'd find my statement regarding S905W. It will be supported if Amlogic releases source code for it.
Please test this device tree: gxbb_p200_2G_tronsmart_v95_v2.dtb
sorry for writing in this thread but i can't write in PM, kszaq, can you provide the sources for ssv6051 i need it for my rk3328 based tv-box?
Driver source code is available at Index of /sources/
Keep in mind that it's from Amlogic and may not work correctly on Rockchip.
jfcruz This chip is not supported and probably never will. Please read here: [S905X] Unknown WLAN chip
