No, M8S Pro+ has eMMC, not NAND. Use gxl_p212_2g.dtb

if i plug the sd card and turn on while pressing the button it keeps on mecool log and doesn't do anything!!!!
You forgot to put a correct device tree on SD card. M8S Pro+ uses an odd board name and default device tree doesn't work.

If the card cannot be read in Android, it may suggest an issue with card reader in your box. Is any other card readable/writeable in Android?

Unfortunately no. Like I said before: I will not create Kodi 18 builds before a first Kodi 18 alpha. I simply don't have time for this.

On S905X the max CPU frequency ist still 1200 Mhz, can it be this patch?
Because on S905X it's 1512 and not 1536 like on S905.
Temperature is not an issue below 40 °C.

I've put back 8.1.6 and the .update folder is writeable now.
It cannot be only one folder, it should be whole /storage partition.

It is very time consuming, because mostly I cannot use the normal update method but I have to remove the card and prepare it again.
Today I continue the testing and I'll come back if I found any solid repeatable behaviour.Please don't waste your time. If the issue is there from the beginning, it should be fixed in kernel. I will see if Amlogic tried to fix it (e.g. PD#141411: emmc: modify calibration dly_step for gxm · khadas/linux@523a22d · GitHub).
