are you able to install KODI 18?
there's no need to install kodi, it's already there.
LibreELEC 8.9.x => kodi 18 ( it's on development phase)
LibreELEC 8.2 => kodi 17.6

will do, should I use a specific usb port or do both of them work for booting?
the bootloader will check all USBs (but if i'm not wrong minix has 1 usb and 1 otg)
just be sure that there are no other usb devices plugged in
The only trouble I found with 8.9.x and this is not acceptable is often minix hang with black screen when I stop a video.
got the same with a old panasonic plasma but if a use a more modern led panasonic tv (supporting 24hz) : no hang, everything works as it should be.
It's a kodi beta problem.
i will soon post a new release with update LE + kodi B3
maybe it will be solved...
So did I do something wrong than?
maybe not.
got the same crazy things with the X8-HP.
I had to maintain 2 LE8.2 versions for the X8-HP with slightly different dtb file. (was using a kszaq linux)
Now with the offcial LE linux, it's gone .It's not anymore needed to maintain 2 versions.
Seems that we face the same issue with the X8.
Like all the X8 have not been manufactured the same way (meaning shares exactly the same components)
can you try to boot from USB?
using the LE8.9.x with default dtb.img
Yes boot from SD.
Using your version libreelec 8.2 as main driver. Lan ok, wifi have to test and passthrough I don't know what is :D. For me all is working good
Previous 2 versions install to internal doesn't boot.(something about unsuccesfull mount). This last one I have not tryed.
to boot from internal with the libreelec 8.9.x, you need to repatch the android bootloader. (you will still be able to boot the 8.2 from SD if needed)
The 8.2 is the most stable.
The 8.9.x uses the latest kodi version (beta) which may give troubles if your tv doesn't support 24hz.
thanks for your return.
you boot from SD right?
wifi, lan, passthrough,.. everything is functional?
ps: you're not wrong
Did I have to do something with the the dtb file inside the device_trees folder on the sd?
no
extract from the firmware : dt
let me know
I finished trying all of the dtb files and they all produce the same result: the device stays on the android-minix boot logo
I contacted minix and asked for the latest firmware img for the minix 8 and they sent me it:
I don't know if that helps or not but I thought that it might be useful
EDIT: I managed to dump some dtb files from the image. Again, I don't know if it helps but if it does than I can put a download link to them
tks for the link.
about dumping dtb, i've the tool to do it.
Is there anything I can get from my x8 to help you develop a working img?
can you try the following dtbs and let me know if one works?
http://www.mediafire.com/file/a7yyjla63y1ba51/meson8_k200a_2g.dtb/file
http://www.mediafire.com/file/huk4a39836moiab/meson8_m8_2g.dtb/file
http://www.mediafire.com/file/3aaghcmih1hher4/meson8_k200b_2g_emmc_sdhc.dtb/file
i will try to make something this week-end.
Interesting ,wonder if this will work on my Minix Neo X8?, should i wait for a stable build or is it a finished product?
as far as i see, i don't have a working img for the X8.
ps : never had feedback about x8 device until now....
just to be sure it was crystal clear.
anyway, the sdio dtb isn't the good one.
can you burn this one on a SD :http://www.mediafire.com/file/dtr2kr1r5ycbtth/libreelec-x8-h_series.arm-8.2rc-kodi_17.6-final.img.gz/file
it's a old img which contains more dtb files. No need to hold the reset switch.
be sure to try once with http://www.mediafire.com/file/29ilwgtalve7l1d/meson8_k200b_2g_emmc_sdio.dtb/file
boot the minix (no need to hold the recovery, it's a one time "patch" process).
if it's not correctly patched, you will boot direct to android.
if it's correctly patched and the dtb is the right one, you will boot to LibreELEC
if it's correctly patched and the dtb isn't the right one, you will stay on the android logo
So what can I do so it will change?
=> file explorer => view : be sure that "file name extensions" is selected
Hey guys, I just tried to do the installation but it doesn't boot to libreelec. If I hold the recovery button than the android minix logo flashes, when I stop holding it just stays on the android minix logo. Any ideas?
edit: I should mention that I am using minix-x8 (not h or s or plus). I don't know anything about this stuff but it looks like I only have a dtb for the x8-h version in the SD?
can you try this dtb : http://www.mediafire.com/file/29ilwgtalve7l1d/meson8_k200b_2g_emmc_sdio.dtb/file
boot the beast and let me know
i would first test the Gz on a SD card.
if you're using my 17.6 build, the boot script isn't the same anymore.
so you 've to repatch the minix to be able to install to internal.
btw:
the performance gain with "installtointernal" is negligible. my pov
Yes, but only if "adjust refresh rate" is on. With the software decoder there's no freeze no matter the "adjust refresh rate" setting.
if you want the best possible experience, "adjust refresh rate" must be on.
It will limit the "judder".
