It seems like a clean install of K will fix all the issues with getting the box to bootup with a 4k TV.

    The Coolest
    Second try :)
I did a clean install of the K version and put a remote.conf on the sdcard. This time the boot went well and the remote worked.

After testing with some films I noticed that some 2160p x265 films that run ok on the J version, have heavy frame dropping in the K version.

    Solved.
After testing with different device trees, this one gxl_p212_1g.dtb resulted in auto mounting the usb hard disk.
Some further tests have to be done to see if everything else still works ok but I'm happy with the result.
What I haven't found, probably overlooked, on the forum yet, how can you determine which p2xx number the box is?

    The Coolest
I cleared another sdcard and used rufus to install the K version. Kodi appeared on the screen so the bootup indeed went well.
The remote didn't work though. Did the procedure again but this time copied the renamed mxq pro device tree to sdcard. Stripes on the screen again. As I need this remote, I think I'll stay with the J version for now.

    Here's the complete dmesg output.
It does show some errors which seem usb0 and usb1 related to me.

I've done a format on the WD hard disk, thinking that would wipe all potential errors, and tried again. LE does not 'see' it.
I've run a check/repair in win7 on a second WD 3TB disk, eject hardware safely and connected that one to the mxq. It's also not detected.
Then I booted the mxq from android and both drives are there in kodi.

Also, did a boot from LibreELEC-S905.arm-8.0-8.0.1h.img in stead of 7j.
    No drives there.

There is a WD 3TB hard drive, exfat formatted, connected directly to the usb port of my mxq box running LE (s905/7.0.3.012...12j.img.gz) but it doesn't get recognized.
I'm not sure how to mount it, as it's not even visible.
    Any suggestion is welcome.

USB drives connected, both not recognized:
    WD my book 1230
    Samsung Story Station 3.0 HX-DT020EB 2TB

    Yesterday, I received a mxq pro 4k s905.
Running LE from sdcard works really fast (Transcend sdxc UHS-I U3 ultimate).
The wifi doesn’t work with LE, but reading the threads about driver availability that was to be expected.

I did find an issue with the k version.
With LibreELEC-S905.arm-7.0.3.012k.img.gz installed, the box can output to my 1080p monitor just fine but with a 4k tv connected (Panasonic 55cx700), the screen only shows 2 horizontal lines.

With LibreELEC-S905.arm-7.0.3.012j.img.gz installed, there are no problems. Video output to the 4k screen looks great.

I’ve still got 2 problems left to solve.
1 Spdif doesn’t work. Not with LE but also not with android. Might be an issue of finding the right cable.
I ordered a "1/8" 3.5mm Mono Male to Phono RCA Female Jack Connector Adapter". Hopefully that's it.
(SOLVED, that was indeed the plug needed to connect a coax cable to the spdif connector).
2 Can’t get my WD 3TB usb drive, directly connected to the box, recognized. Created a new topic for that Here
