Maybe you could run part of build process on normal Linux distro with all dependencies and then pack already generated files to be used in libreelec build environment.

Or run antlr3 usage from your host system and not from libreelec build environment?

The question is how many users you expect to have a box with hisilicon soc? Probably not much because amlogic is light years in front. Meaning spending time on it is a waste.

Also I think libhybris is a must in this case.

I think your conclusion is correct - fix something, broke something. Even if this libcec version works for you and fixes your issue maybe can brake thousands of other users.
