Finally got my OPi3-LTS. Assembled it and downloaded the latest 11.0 Beta (LibreELEC-H6.arm-10.95.1-orangepi-3-lts.img.gz) to try. First boot results in a message at top of logo screen
*** Error in mount_storage: mount_common: Could not mount UUID=2d187d5b-a18a-45e5-a167-2dc64c4a2c42 ***
### Starting debugging shell for boot step: mount_storage... tyoe exit to quit ###

If I type exit, i get 8-12 more errors and then it just sits there
Any ideas appreciated.....

Thank you for the how-to...My order still hasn't arrived yet; so I will try it as soon as I get it assembled and let you know my results...

jernej : I have an OrangePi 3 LTS on order to experiment with...was wondering if you might be able to give me a brief how-to for installing LibreElec onto the EMMC? I've only worked with the Cubox (which doesn't have any built-in storage) so I've only installed to the microSD cards via the install program.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

gadget_guy - The OrangePi 3LTS looks very nice...It appears to have everything (including wifi) that the RP4 has plus it is available...I might get one to experiment with...
chewitt : Any thoughts? For about the same as the RPi4 4GB I can get the OPI 3LTS and don't have to wait...how do the LE development futures compare?

Again Thank You for a perfectly clear explanation. Now I understand how it works.
BTW...I've sent back the mini-PC and am on the waiting list for a RPI 4 so I'll probably have a bunch of new questions once it comes in and I start building. In the meantime, I'm reading the Intro to RPi to get some background ....

Re: Why boot from SD card?
Too used to the way my Cubox's work...Didn't even think about doing it that way.
Could you explain how to do that? I've only used the supplied SD creator to "install" to the MicroSD that I then use in the Cubox. I don't know how to "install" from the USB (which was also created by the SD creator?) to the "storage" (e.g. to the internal eMMC?)

Just a final report...I purchased the Mini-PC by Wo We and it arrived Monday. I downloaded the latest stable LE for X86-64 and attempted an install....Couldn't get it to boot from the SD slot. Went into the Bios to try to get it to work and couldn't get it to boot from the SD no matter what settings I used. Finally quit and sent a chat message to Wo We about my issues. The responded that the SD uses such a different read methodology, it cannot boot. At this point, I decided to give up on it and send it back. I'm now on the wait list for a RPI 4 and hopefully that will come in before my Cubox ('s) quit...

Chewitt,
Thank you very much for the info about the Flirc-IR-Receiver and the rpilocator site, however every item on the two page list on rpilocator was Out of Stock....
That's why I'm also looking at the mini-pc I linked. It appears to be a Celeron, Gemini Lake, N4020 up to 2.8 GHz. 4Gb memory, 128 Storage, plenty of builtin IO including wifi (up thru ac), Gig Ethernet, USB (including C), fanless, built-in MicroSD slot, expandable memory and storage. It says it supports up to 4k video which is nice to have for future. Nothing I've got is there (yet).
Thanks again

Question: If I were to want to replace a Cubox I.MX6 would I be better off with a RPI4 (if I can find one to purchase...where???) or a Mini-PC (e.g.: wo-we Mini-PC - NewEgg Item# 9SIAW62JNS1853)?
I have looked at numerous RPI suppliers (per RRP web site) and none of them have stock at present (mid Feb 2023). Also, there is all the other parts needed (case, power supply, remote control receiver, anything else?)
Newegg does have stock available and their product is basically turnkey except for the Remote Control receiver. .
Is there any easy solution for Remote Control Receiver for either RPI4 or MiniPC that works well?
Thanks

I'm looking for suggestions for a low priced platform to install LibrElec onto to replace my existing Cubox htpc hardware. I have two Cubox I4pro's that have served remarkably well and I'd keep using them except one has just died. I'd prefer a small form-factor (e.g. Cubox) and would prefer both wifi and ethernet (I do have both avaiable near the TV's). I'd prefer something that uses IR remote control (since I use Harmony 650s). I can use the IR (USB attached) that I used on the Cubox (to improve range). I love using LibreElec since it's so well done and compact and polished... Suggestions greatly appreciated.

I have the same issue with all 7.9 alpha and 80 builds community and official with any Pictures on my Wetek Hub.
When it tries to generate thumbnails for my pictures it halts/crashes and Kodi restarts after approx. 3rd to 5th tumbnail.
According to the logs it is always killed by OOM of Kernel.I also tried reducing size of thumbs (advanced settings xml /<imageres>320</imageres>;) - after that Kodi hangs/crashed after approx 10th to 15th thumbnail generated.
With 7.0 community build it works.
Regards.

I've been working with vpeter to try and figure this one out...it appears to be non-trivial to fix.
We've found a work-around that seems to work pretty well. There are two requirements for the fix...
- Vpeter has built a 3.14 kernel version of LE 8.02. If you PM him, I'm pretty sure he'll send you a link to download it.
- Along with that, you need to be able to adjust the size/resolution of the jpg's to reduce their total size. I use a size of 1920x1080 and 240dpi which gives a file-size on my jpgs of less than ~2.5 meg. I can successfully view directories with over 300 pictures defined like that. I'd suggest using whatever display you're using to determine what size / resolution to try. If you're using Lightroom to manage your pictures, you can adjust your resolution when you export from RAW files or use it to change jpg resolutions also by exporting(I think)...

Hi,
I've been using Cubox ix4 cubes for my LE boxes but am looking for an alternative that might have better (more mainstream) support. My requirements are:- Appliance (e.g.: no hardware futzing required)
- Fully Supported mainstream development
- Basic Kodi capabilites
- pictures,
- movies (MKV files on file server ripped from DVD's),
- CD's ripped to FLAC files, and
- a few TV shows from DVD's (also MKV files)).
- Economical (comparable to the Cubox line)
- Off the shelf as a package (don't want to buy a RPi board and have to find a case, power supply, etc)...
I tried searching but got no hits...alternative search terms welcome if there's already some info on the forums...Thanks in advance...

I've reverted to 7.03 since I have a (couple) of subdirectories that are still crashing with 8.x...I even tried the new OE8.01 and it doesn't crash but it hangs loading the same subdirectories...I"m thinking it is a combination of the 17.1 Kodi changes and the concomitant changes to the OE/LE that causes the hang/crash issue.
I'd be happy to test if anyone is really interested in fixing this (or be happy to send a zip of a directory that does crash every time...300+ jpg pictures even though they're all limited to 1920x1080 resolution @ 240 ppi).

After some testing we found out that same problem happen on Wetek Hub too. Seems low powered devices with low ram can have problems watching 4K images. Looking for a test with RPi too.I can't find the reference any more but when LE was in beta (7.95.1 timeframe) I remember seeing a thread about this problem in Kodi (late 17 beta). I seem to remember seeing it was fixed but maybe not? Since you're getting failures on multiple platforms, maybe that's where the issue lies not in LE itself?
Thanks for keeping on this...

I finally looked into this more details. Sadly I could debug only once with gdb and got few pointers to continue. All subsequent retries only freezes whole system or give kernel oops [ 79.615972] Internal error: Oops: 805 [#1] PREEMPT SMP ARM. Not sure yet how to fix. Seems memory allocation for 64 MB fails somehow.
