I had a similiar problem with the OE 7 beta (which is essentially the same as LE 6.90.002), with OE updating Kodi in the 7.0 branch yesterday it seems to be fixed.

Edit: It could be this commit: rendermanager: Increase configure timeout to see if it fixes video pl… · OpenELEC/xbmc@36159cf · GitHub that fixed it.
