Then disable CEC on the PI/TV and see if it makes any difference.

No, because my gpio IR is just working fine when I hook my monitor onto it.
It's just not working when my TV is connected to it.And your TV might cause noise on the 5V line, so try the 3.3V line like suggested in the post above (or vice versa). You might also need a better power source in that case.

The wiki page I posted contains information for both "autostart.sh" and "shutdown.sh", and it works fine.
So it's a layer 8 problem and the solution is simple: exchange the user for a competent one.

I have a PC running Kodi 17 alpha 2 on OpenELEC, with a TBS 6280 dual DVB-T2 tuner (PCI-e) and a Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD USB tuner. They both work in Windows 10 with MediaPortal.OpenELEC support is here: OpenELEC Mediacenter - Home

Just give it a try, it only takes a few minutes to download the image and write it to an sd-card.

I stil dont understand why * 6 * * * would cause a reboot at 6:45 am, But thanks for the answer cheersBecause the * is a wildcard, it will match anything. So with the above any minute from 6:00 am to 6:59 am is matched. If you want something to happen at a precise time, you'll need to specify a precise time.

Just run LE without that berryboot/noobs crap and you can use the build in updater.

Well of course, once the system is rebooted the cronjobs will be activated and as it is still 6 am cron will reboot the device again. This is not a bug but a user error.
So make this:
and it should only reboot at exactly 6:00 am. Depending on how fast it boots it may still reboot twice, but not for a whole hour. -
I'm a big AMD fan, but for Linux/LibreELEC I would currently recommend an Intel based system.

Try a different SD card or a stronger power supply, input/output errors are often hardware related.
