Doesn't Disk Utility do the same thing?

On the NAS, the exports file needs to be set with insecure as Kodi needs this to access them.
So something like this: /media/<yourshare> <IP Range>/24(rw,no_root_squash,insecure).
So ssh into your NAS as root, or become root with su -l or use sudo.
edit /etc/exports (so it has the insecure), save then run "exportfs".
Restart NFS or reboot. Also are you accessing ny <name> rather than IP address, if so try IP address, or browsing for NFS shares in Kodi?

If you're on Linux you can use gparted (parted) to expand the filesystem.

I'm sorry but "If I have a BluRay .iso file, can I play it on Kodi?" does suggest that you haven't tried. Whereas "I've tried to play a BluRay .iso file, and it cannot be found" is another issue. But semantics...
Maybe you need to provide more information such as LE release, and a log file.
Have you tried playing from a USB drive in case it's a samba issue?
ASFIK iso files should play fine in LE = I haven't tried, so the LE release is important.

Most wifi dongles I have used work without issue.
Maybe you need to be a bit MORE specific!
-
Have you actually tried before asking?
Kodi has always been even been able to play ISO files - But NOT if they are encrypted. If they are, then seek other options, you won't get any help here.
To play, just select it like any other media file.
-
You could also try formatting the SD card first - sometimes that works.
If that fails, it could be a corrupt SD card, or a faulty reader.
SSH can be enable in the LE program addon.

Have you a lot of photos? If so, it could be because you have "Automatically generate thumbnails" enabled in Settings -> Media -> Pictures.
-
LE can play media from archives ISO/RAR/Zip etc, and this is what is trying to do - without success!.
[From Kodi Wiki] On the Pi this is now optional (enabled by default), enable or disable with: Settings -> Appearance -> File lists -> Support browsing into archives.
Possible you had set this on your RPi2 and didn't on the RPi3.

stress-ng Reference has been included in LE-9 System-tools add-ons.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Would it be possible to add "stress" stress(1): impose load on/stress test systems - Linux man page to, probably the LE add-on system-tools. It is incredibly useful to be able to "stress" a system and see how it responds to certain criteria. CPU/Memory/I/O etc
Also, if possible, include python-psutils psutil documentation — psutil 5.2.0 documentation to allow python scripts access to the system information.
Not essential but would be useful for debugging and monitoring.

...and what has this to do with LE?
"I am using the latest version of Lakka"

Adding movies for the first time can take a long time, even after scanning has completed as it has to extract codec information from each file.
Your best bet is to install LE addon System-tools and use nmon from ssh to see what is actually happening - cpu, disk I/O etc.Have you checked /storage/,kodi/temp/kodi.log? for any clues. Post log file if you cannot see anything obvious.
-
First check you have installed the correct version - Not the RPi1 version. And how you installed it and which version?
Also what happens if you pull the plug and plug it back in again.

Have you tried powering the speakers via a power hub? It's possible that the RPi3 cannot provide enough power, especially if you have other USB peripherals attached. What are the power requirements of the speakers?
It sounds (pune) like you don't need a soundcard, but need an amp. I guess the touchscreen doesn't use the GPIO pins, so the only thing I can think off is the hifiberry-amp+ but that's digital, expensive and still has an external PSU.

LE is a readonly system, so I think the chances of having handbrake installed is pretty slim - even if a version is available for the RPi3.
However, it could be done with ffmpeg, you'll need read the manual on it as it has a lot of options.
But, a word of reason, the RPi3 is not particularly fast so a half hour TV show could take a couple of hours at least to re-encode. (I must admit, I haven't tried
)
A quick search came up with ffmpeg -i input.ts -vcodec copy -acodec copy output.mpg
-
I've noticed this before - usually on a new install or after adding a lot of new data. Monitoring the system shows that a lot of background processes are running - even after the scan ends. I assume that it has to check each file individually for it's codec information. This takes a lot of time.
Try leaving the RPi3 running for a couple of hours and see if things change.

I've stayed on LE 7.90.010 as anything above seems to have issues. I'm not fussed about upgrading to 8 as this release works for me.
vpeters 3.14 image can be downloaded from Index of /imx6-solidrun-kernel-3.14/
I did try this release but noticed a few annoying "clicks" on TV Shows, which I hadn't noticed before, but didn't follow up as I had other more pressing uses for my Cubox.
BTW: Mine is also black and cube shaped
albeit with a slight imperfection around the spdif input (caused by a 12mm drill in a moment of frustration)
