Q Box S905 - Libreelec 7 and 8 - no networks or USB HDD detection

I recently bought a cheap generic S905 box (I know). I was hoping for passthru audio Atmos etc and it doesn't work on Android 6 so I installed Libreelec. It boots ok from SD card but then I cannot select any USB HDD device. It is not in the list. When I check the network there is a blank box even though I have an ethernet cable plugged in. I have tried the latest version of 8 then went back to 7. I also tried several different device trees. Some boot ok others don't even boot but I always have the issue

Kodi with network and HDD all works on Android installed on the same box. I have searched the internet for a solution but no luck

Any ideas? Or is this just a rubbish unsupported box?

Android 6 means that you have a S905X device. Make sure you use one of "gxl" device trees.

Thank you that fixed it. Such a simple thing. At least I have a device that can passthru Atmos at last. Hope this helps others searching too
