I wrote a small addon that I would like to share with you if anyone is looking for something like this.
Add-on: Display Brightness Control for Raspberry Pi 7" Touchscreen
Platform: LibreELEC (Kodi) on Raspberry Pi
Compatibility: Tested with the official Raspberry Pi 7" Touch Display (Version 1.1, DSI)
Tested on: LibreELEC 12 / Kodi 21.1
This add-on allows direct control of the screen brightness for the official Raspberry Pi 7" touch display via the Kodi interface. Brightness can be adjusted in real time, with all values from 0 to 255 supported through an intuitive input dialog.
A key feature is the automatic restoration of the last brightness setting upon reboot or restart of Kodi/LibreELEC. This option can be easily enabled or disabled in the add-on settings.
