rpi 3b+ and Acer 21" touch screen. Where to start?

I have the above hardware and I'm fairly new to the rpi scene. I'm not quite sure where to look in the wiki or in a forum to see how I can get touch enabled for my monitor. If someone can point me in the right direction, i would appreciate it. Most search results yielded specific monitors, and not a 'how to' guide.
