[8.90.1] CoreELEC for S905/S912 devices

  • Almost every post or 'experience' you have made here is about 1 problem or another, poor signal, frozen picture, not responding, not rebooting, jerky picture, buffering issues, partitions not resizing, cec not working.

You don't heed the advice you are given so I suggest you buy another device for Kodi because you are just not going to get the experience you are looking for, maybe an RPi3b+ would better suit your needs they are a quality piece of kit that will be give you wonderful 4k playback, working HDR, buttery smooth streaming and super fast wifi for your hardcore pornography collection.

  • Nice poem!

Has anyone asked you what box you have?
Thunderstorm might have fried your box or the ram, or the SD card, could be a hundred reasons, I would get a really decent power board and also a better quality AML box.

Wired like Donnie Brasco Got a mic and a host rockin' cowboy hats With them wild boys cats.

    That was hilarious.

How do you know about his hardcore porn collection?

    Are you monitoring our devices?

If so, for the records, the videos under xxx folder on my box are not mine! :)

Joking aside, RPi3b+ doesn't have full HEVC support. If it did, I'd buy RPi3b+ instead.

don't leave today's commit for tomorrow:!:

  • Thunderstorm came.

You could have stopped right there.

I think most people would understand that the devs are unable to reproduce, fix or control glitches that might happen during thunderstorms.

Same here... best OOB experience I had (before HEVC became a commom place). Even my Popcorn Hour had more 'problems' to solve.

But given the lack of source code and limitations devs have fighting the unknown, they do a hell of a job!

The result is having a cheap box (cheaper than RPi) with H265 decoding capabilities, but a less than perfect OOB experience.

  • No I just installed CoreELEC on a sd card and connected the lead. The volume is quite low I must admit.
My M1 is connected to a computer screen through HDMI7

My audio output is set to ALSA: Default (AML-M8AUDIO Analog), PCM

Hi sorry forgot to ask, what is the number of channels setting?

Sorry just wanting to make sure I've got the same setting as you to test.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

First of all, many thanks for your effort, really appreciate your great work.

Yesterday succesfully upgrade LibreElec 8.9.6 to CoreElec 8.90.1 on Minix neo u9-h sd storage.

Only problem now is HEVC files are not playing well, looks the same like monitor cable not good connected (forgot to make picture)

    When I remove echo 1 > /sys/module/amvdec_h265/parameters/double_write_mode from autostart.sh HEVC plays well.

Added the line echo 1 > /sys/module/amvdec_h265/parameters/double_write_mode for the Hyperion plugin.

When removed HEVC plays fine but Hyperion shows solid white/purple leds.

    Any sollution for this?

Jerky picture and buffering in a hardcode pornography movie, maybe that's just how the director intended it :)

  • I made a fresh install with CoreElec 8.90.1.img on my small X96Mini (S905W) box fitted with an over-sized heatsink, and observed a peculiarity:

When running movies (hardware decoding) from local USB disk, processor temperature varies from 50°C to 54°C. If then I let the box idle (nothing running) after half an hour or more the temperature stabilizes around 60°C to 64°C.

    1. why is the CPU temp higher about 10°C when the box does "nothing"?

    2. how can I check what is running in background when box idles?

Edit: I have no library, nothing is scraping, no NAS, the only addon is Keypad editor

    - forgot to say that before I adjust the audio sync the file plays properly but the lips are out of sync with the sound with pass through enabled as soon as I change the lip sync (normally to around 0.175) it begins to stutter constantly and continues throughout the film, pressing pause or stoping then starting again doesn’t solve it only way to stop it is to change the audio sync back to 0

    OK, got this:

    All normal?

Looking at System CPU usage when idle I get jumping values CPU0: from 0-45°%. CPU1 from 0-50%, CPU2 from 0-25%, and don't see CPU3 value.

(OT: this thing, not related to CE but to Kodi with new Estuary skin, not being able to see CPU3 value in Harware info screen is the same as on RPi3 since first version of the skin, with default font size.., not to mention 8 core processors :)

  • Hi, all developers

Thks for your great works and for your time.

    I post here cause like M.L.K "I've a dream"...

Could CoreElec continue to grow for an amazing cinema experience...?

I mean, a simple way to update, a system works for S912 (silent box), and could play some nice .mkv 4k files and some 3D.SBS or other 3D files...With a simple linux 4 Kodi.

    Keep on fighting
