Chromium Symantec Cert Problem

  • I installed LibreElec today to see if it would work better than OpenElec.
    Well not quite.

The Chromium plugin has an issue in both.

In LibreElec the plugin uses Chromium V.53 that has the symantec cert issue. Therefore https to many websites doesn't work such as amazon.

A fix would be to use Chromium 55.

I tried using browser.chromium-8.0.104.zip as suggested by lrusak LibreELEC but it did not install with LibreElec 7.03.

I hope the repo can be updated soon with Chromium 55.

  • the bump has already been merged, it just has to be built

    Thanks for the info!

Will this build also fix the “Aw, snap!" I have it since 8.0.106 when visiting like Amazon.de

Now there is the situation that I don't have any fallback solution to Chromium:
    - With "8.0.104 test" from your post and since LibreElec 7.95.1 I get "error certificate transparency required", befor it was ok. Till LibreElec 7.90.xxx there was not this issue even with same Chromium Version.
    - With 8.0.106 I get the “Aw, snap!" as mentioned above

And how about the hw-acceleration? Is there any progress?
When Hardware-accelerated video decode is enabled in chrome://flags/ it gives GpuProcessHostUIShim: The GPU process exited with code 256. and all GPU features are "Software only".

    Thanks for all your efforts!!!
